This fruit originates from Asia, the region between Iran and the Himalayas, in northern India.

It contains tannins and other substances that make it astringent, anti-bacterial and anti-viral. The pericarp of the fruit contains tannins and gallic and ellagic acids among others, which  are useful properties in astringent cosmetics and products for controlling sebum production.  

Pomegranate also contains vitamin C, which helps maintain the integrity of the collagen structure of the dermis, preventing and combating the signs of skin ageing, together with vitamin E.
